How It Works
As an instructor, you’ll share your skills and expertise through small group classes and experiences. You’ll set your schedule, manage your calendar through Acuity Scheduling, and we’ll handle the rest—marketing, payments, and class listings. Each instructor pays a modest $25 monthly platform fee, which provides:
- A personal Acuity Scheduling login to manage your calendar and classes.
- Manual upload of your class listings by our administrative team.
- Ongoing assistance with scheduling and calendar management as needed.
- Inclusion in platform-wide marketing and advertising initiatives.
Our Tier System: Quantity First, Quality Always
The more you teach, the more you earn. Tiers are based primarily on how active you are—not popularity or competition. When you teach regularly, you automatically qualify for higher payout levels. All instructors must maintain basic quality standards to ensure students have an excellent experience.
Apprentice Instructor (Starter)
Teaching Frequency: 1 class per week
Instructor Share: 70%
Standards: Maintain 75% fill rate & 80% satisfaction. Ideal for new instructors testing ideas.
Craft Instructor (Core)
Teaching Frequency: 2–5 classes per week
Instructor Share: 80%
Standards: Maintain 75% fill rate & 80% satisfaction. For active teachers ready to grow their audience.
Master Instructor (Partner)
Teaching Frequency: 6+ classes per week or multi-instructor organizations
Instructor Share: 90%
Standards: Maintain 75% fill rate & 80% satisfaction. For nonprofits and organizations leading the movement.
Instructor Referral Bonus
Great instructors know other great instructors. To reward you for helping us grow this community, Practical Intelligence offers a $100 referral bonus for every new instructor you help bring to the platform. Here’s how it works:
- When you refer a new instructor and they sign up, they should mention your name during onboarding.
- After your referred instructor successfully holds their first paid class, you’ll receive a $100 payment.
There’s no limit to how many instructors you can refer. The more great teachers you bring in, the stronger and more vibrant our community becomes!
Quality & Support
We believe in growth, not punishment. If a class isn’t filling or reviews dip, we’ll help you adjust. Low fill rates may indicate a class size or price adjustment opportunity, not a failure. Classes below 75% fill rate or 80% satisfaction are subject to review and collaborative improvement. Free or community classes require prior approval to ensure brand consistency and clear communication with students.
How You Get Paid
Students pay directly through the platform. We process payments, handle refunds, and manage logistics so you can focus on teaching. Example: - Class Price: $50 per student - 8 students attend (total $400) - Platform retains 30%, 20%, or 10% depending on your tier - You receive the remaining 70%, 80%, or 90%. Your earnings are paid out monthly, and a large portion of our share goes directly into marketing and maintaining platform growth.
