The vision behind practical intelligence

Practical Intelligence exists to help people feel capable, confident, and connected in a rapidly changing world. We believe that knowledge isn’t enough — what truly empowers people is the ability to apply skills directly to everyday life and work.

In a time when technology is advancing faster than most can keep up with — and when many basic life skills are no longer being passed down — people are left with a strange mix of digital overload and practical gaps. They might know how to scroll, but not how to fix a leaky faucet, balance their finances, or use AI to save time at work.

Our vision is to bridge that gap. By offering practical, hands-on workshops — from AI tools to cooking, from personal finance to nature skills — we give people the confidence to solve problems, create, and thrive. It’s not about abstract theory or endless screen time; it’s about skills you can learn today and use tomorrow.

At its core, Practical Intelligence is about resilience and self-reliance in the modern world, combined with a strong sense of community learning. People don’t just leave with new skills — they leave with the reassurance that they can figure things out and that they’re not alone in doing so.

Richard Gregory is the founder of Practical Intelligence, a modern school for life skills, business tools, and real-world education. He brings to this venture a rare combination of vision, creativity, and proven execution, having built successful companies across industries as diverse as architecture, fashion, hospitality, and product development.

At the center of his work is the belief and practice that individuals, entrepreneurs and organizations can achieve outsized results by smartly building and leveraging tools, systems, and design thinking. Richard has made a career out of showing how the right approach can be a true force multiplier — enabling individuals and teams to accomplish more than they thought possible.

His track record speaks for itself: co-founding RGArchitecture to design meaningful built environments; creating Station 22, a thriving restaurant that became a Provo landmark; founding Prototype Global Inc, a fashion product development company that continues to power emerging fashion brands; and leading a new effort, ROI by Design, where he works with real estate investors and homeowners to leverage design strategy to produce measurable financial outcomes. Each venture has delivered real results: clients served, products launched, portfolios built, revenue generated, and communities engaged.

Richard’s ability to move fluidly between industries while consistently producing results is what makes him uniquely qualified to lead Practical Intelligence. He has lived the challenges of building and scaling ideas from scratch, and he has done it repeatedly across different domains. More than a thinker, he is a builder — someone who transforms vision into reality. Practical Intelligence is the culmination of his experience: a platform designed to give others the skills, tools, and confidence to do the same in their own lives and businesses.
